Abstract

This talks provides an overview of the research undertaken during the last years by the multi-agent systems community in the specific area of self-organisation. It discusses first definitions of self-organisation and emergent phenomena, engineering aspects of self-organising systems, and available run-time supporting infrastructure. Second, it describes some specific applications using different metaphors such as ants, spiders, gossip, and force fields.
