About me:
I'm Eliseo Ferrante and I was born in Bari, Italy, on August 7th 1982. I own a bachelor in Computer Science Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy), (score: 102/110, obtained in 2004) and two master degrees, one from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) (score: 110/110, obtained in 2007) and one from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) (GPA: 3.8/4.0, obtained in 2007). In 2009, I obtained a Master of Advanced Studies at Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). In 2013, I obtained a PhD in Applied Sciences at IRIDIA, CoDE, Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium (supervisor: Prof. Marco Dorigo, cosupervisors: Prof. Mauro Birattari and Prof. Ali Emre Turgut).

The focus of my research is artificial intelligence, swarm robotics. In particular, my Ph.D focused on the design of self-organized decision-making and information transfer strategies for swarm of robots performing coordinated motion (flocking). Since May 2012, I joined prof. Tom WenseleersSocio-ecology and Social Evolution laboratory to work with him and with Dr. Edgar Duéñez-Guzmán. We are currently studying the evolution of self-organizing collective behaviors for a population of homogeneous and heterogeneous robots using evolutionary game theory and artificial grammatical evolution. Our current model scenario is division of labor and task partitioning.
