Accommodation and Travel

Travel:   ICARIS 2006 will be held at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in the Campus of Oeiras, some 20 Km from Lisbon.

There are several options to travel from the international airport in Lisbon to Oeiras.

Taxi: The trip Lisbon-Oeiras costs about 30 Euro

Regarding taxi transfers:
1) in order to avoid being ripped off, as sometimes happens, at the
airport there is a " Visitors and Convention Bureau", where there is a
Taxi Voucher service. There taxi ride must be paid for in advance -
without queuing which is another advantage.
2) another possibility is contacting the taxi service that serves the
IGC: Mr. Jose Mota: phone: 351 91 7224992 prior to flight.

Bus-Train: There is a shuttle bus service from the Lisbon airport to Cais do Sodre, which costs around 2 Euro. From Cais Do Sodre all trains stop at Oeiras, where the Institute is located. Train frequency is about 15-30 min. The duration of the trip is about 15 min (direct train) or 25 min (stop train). The train ticket costs 1.2 Euro.

Accomodation:

We have pre-reserved rooms in two very convenient hotels: Hotel Prai-Mar and Hotel Sana Estoril. Each hotel has now provided a special code that will enable the charge of the specially reduced prices for this meeting and it is mandatory that these codes are inserted when making reservations. Please note that if the codes are not inserted, normal (and thus much higher) costs
will be charged.

Hotel Praia-Mar Single: 61 Euro - Double: 66 Euro

Reaching the Institute: Turn left outside the hotel and at the end of this road, turn left
again on a broad avenue leaving the sea behind. Cross over this road which will bring you to an underground entrance to the train station - CARCAVELOS. Get a train going towards LISBON and get off at the next stop - OEIRAS.
Get off at OEIRAS and turn to your right towards a gas station - GALP. Cross over this station, turn right and walk up to the nearest traffic lights where turn left. At the traffic lights, there is a pink house on the corner on the left and then a fenced-in area which is the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia and the place of the meeting.

Hotel Sana Estoril Single: 45 Euro - Double: 55 Euro

Reaching the Institute: This hotel is located at the top of a hill in Estoril, thus outside the
hotel turn right and use the nearest pedestrian crossing to get on to the opposite side of the road. Walk down the hill to the ESTORIL train station and get the train going towards LISBON. The train stations you will pass are: S. Joao, S.Pedro, Parede, Carcavelos and Oeiras.
Get off at OEIRAS and turn to your right towards a gas station - GALP. Cross over this station, turn right and walk up to the nearest traffic lights where turn left. At the traffic lights, there is a pink house on the corner on the left and then a fenced-in area which is the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia and the place of the meeting.
