Welcome to my homepage!

I am a Ph.D. student at IRIDIA, ULB in Belgium, under the supervision of Prof. Marco Dorigo and Mauro Birattari.

The main areas of my research are Swarm Robotics and Computer Vision. In particular I am interested applying the Swarm Robotics paradigm to develop distributed robotics system which are able to collectively perceive the environment. This kind of research cover a series of topics that will be the object of my studies:

  • Self-Organization
  • Image segmentation
  • Object detection
  • Feature detection and description
  • Multiple view geometry
  • Data fusion

During the first year of my Ph.D. programme I joined the Swarmanoid project, whose main aim was the design and the implementation of an heterogeneous Swarm Robotics system. My contribution to this project was the development and deployment of Computer Vision algorithms on the physical robots.

Since March 2010 I am a Marie Curie fellow and participate as an ESR(Early Stage Researcher) in the MIBISOC Initial Training Network. The main aim of this project is to pursue an advancement in the Medical Imaging field by applying Bio-Inspired and Softcomputing techniques.
