Abstract

Automatic modular design has proven to be a viable approach to designing control software for robot swarms. Although at the core of any automatic design method there is always an optimization algorithm, little research has been devoted so far to studying the impact that different optimization algorithms might have on the performance of an automatic design method. In this presentation, I will give an introduction to the automatic modular design of control software, with a focus on the methods of the AutoMoDe family. I will further present my recent research on the use of different optimization algorithms for the automatic modular design of control software.
