 ** REAL-LIFE APPLICATIONS OF METAHEURISTICS **

Metaheuristics are  used ever more  often  as  effective tools to  aid
decision makers in solving real-life  problems. This workshop aims  to
stimulate  the    discussion      on  this    interesting     field of
research. Researchers and practitioners will  be given the opportunity
to    discuss    recent  advances   in     diverse  topics  such   as: 
 - actual implementations of metaheuristics in real-life situations;
 - solution methods and modelling techniques for so-called /rich/
models, incorporating non-standard constraints 
 - practical problems involved when implementing metaheuristics
 - and many more

*1. Registration*
Participation is free of  charge, but on-line registration is required
for organisatorial purposes.

*2. Call for papers*
Authors are encouraged to submit an abstract of 3 to 5 pages to
marc.sevaux@univ-valenciennes.fr 

*3. Accommodation*
Participants should arrange  their own accommodation. However, we have

*4. Invited speakers*
The following speakers  will present  a tutorial  or overview of   the
state-of-the   art   in    reallife  applications  of   metaheuristics 
 - Eric Taillard (Switzerland)
 - Celso Ribeiro (Brazil)
 - Olli Bräysy   (Finland)
A preliminary programme will be available soon.

*5. Publication*
After the workshops, authors will be  encouraged to submit full papers
for publication in a special volume. These papers will be subjected to
a refereeing process.

Dear colleagues,

I am organizing a session on Ant Colony Optimization at the joint
CORS/INFORMS meeting in Banff, Canada next spring. If anyone is
interested in presenting their work during this session please let me
know as soon as possible. From my experience the conference is worth
going and I have been told that Banff is a lovely place ;-)
